Chiropractor
Teon Kowalyk D.C.
My first experience with Chiropractic care turned out to be a life changing! It was when I returned from a rugby tour in Ireland after sustaining a serious neck injury. At the age of 20, I suffered from severe headaches, blurry vision, concentration difficulties - all of this almost caused me to take a semester off school. I needed help.
After numerous tests and exams by medical staff, there was still no answer to my symptoms. Soon after that I was referred to a chiropractor. The chiropractor found misalignments in my spine that were decreasing nerve function to my body. Shortly after receiving chiropractic adjustments, all my symptoms were gone! The adjustments allowed my body to function better than ever, so I continued to play rugby for 8 more years at the national and international level. Due to the benefits I received from adjustments, I decided to change my career choice of becoming an orthopedic surgeon to becoming a chiropractor who specializes in family health, sports injuries and maximizing quality of life.
I attended the University of Western Ontario, completing my pre-med degree in Kinesiology (the study of anatomy and physiology of the human body). I continued with my Doctorate in Chiropractic and graduated from the prestigious Palmer School of Chiropractic in Iowa. While in my final year at Palmer, I was able to spend a month in Vietnam traveling throughout the country and providing Chiropractic Care at various hospitals. True health and wellness have become my life passion, and I continue to attend post-doctorate seminars to further my research and education.
Whatever state of health you are currently in - acute injuries, nagging aches and pains, or more serious chronic conditions - you have my word that I will do all I can to bring you the highest level of health possible.
Massage Therapist
Nicole Scorse L.M.T.
I have been a massage therapist since 2011. I graduated from the Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage of Rochester in December 2010 and passed the NYS Boards in 2011. Massage therapy has been my passion and I have wanted to be an LMT since I was 13!
There's nothing more rewarding to me than being able to help those who need assistance in getting to a better state of health; chronic pain sufferers, those with years of deformity from improper posture, accident victims, and many others. There's no greater feeling than seeing your client be able to function in a natural state, without pain and discomfort, simply by the touch of your hands manipulating the joint and tissue, working it back to normal.
I enjoy spending my spare time in the outdoors with family and friends. From working out, yoga, archery, hunting, fishing, and camping to enjoying a peaceful nature hike, sightseeing waterfalls. I believe with all the stressors in life today, a little time in nature does the mind and body good.
I specialize in deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, and treatment-oriented massage. I work orthopedically with those suffering from neck, back and hip discomfort. I also provide treatment work for those who suffer from arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic headaches. I include modalities into my treatment depending on the goal, including but not limited to; clinical deep tissue, trigger point therapy, muscle stretching, myofascial release, neuro-massage, pregnancy massage, sports massage and active therapy techniques.
I am driven to use my skills, knowledge, and professionalism as an exceptionally talented massage therapist. I strive to provide bodywork techniques focused on enhancing physical relaxation and emotional restoration, while providing pain relief, recovery, rehabilitation for the purpose of enhancing quality of life.
I look forward to working with you!
Office Manager
Nina Cox
I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Wellness from Buffalo State College. My interest in the health field lies in nutrition and healing the body by properly feeding it. I am excited to have been accepted into the University of Bridgeport’s Master of Science in Human Nutrition program.
With this education, I hope to expand Dr. Teon’s practice by providing patients with the tools to make health-conscious food choices.
I began working at Ontario Family Chiropractic in August of 2016 and have felt I am right where I belong. Dr. Teon and his staff share the same core beliefs that I do and have all aided in my learning and growing here. The family feeling at the office between patients and staff is truly amazing!
When I’m not in the office, you will find me outdoors; hiking, camping, swimming, walking, and really any activity that allows me to be outside for a few hours. I also consider myself to be somewhat of a foodie - I enjoy trying different cuisines and finding restaurants around Rochester to try them. There are many times where I will come home and try to replicate a dish that I found to be extremely tasty and nutrient packed. My passion is helping and educating with food choices, so I am often in the kitchen trying to find the perfect combination of taste and health benefits in a recipe.
As I continue to expand my knowledge in nutrition, being the Office Manager and Chiropractic Assistant brings me the perfect balance of sharing in Ontario Family Chiropractic’s mission as well as growing my personal passion.
